Expo Chicago Week: Curated Exhibition by Adama Ka - Abstract Emotions Preview

During Expo Chicago Week, Adama Ka presented a preview of Abstract Emotions, the latest body of work by Senegalese-American artist Modou Dieng Yacine. This exhibition, part of her pop-up gallery project launched under Guelen Gallery, marked Dieng Yacine's first collaboration with the initiative.

Abstract Emotions pays homage to Black soldiers, particularly the Senegalese Tirailleurs, colonial infantrymen who served France between 1865 and 1960. The exhibition debuted as an open studio preview at the Kimball Arts Center.

Curated by Adama Ka, this powerful exploration of history and identity laid the foundation for its full presentation at the 14th edition of the Dakar Biennale in May 2022.
